A Fan’s Tribute to Sridevi
I was saddened to hear of the death of Sridevi. She seemed like a wonderful person and she was a truly special actor.
In some ways, she encapsulated much of what I love about the industry within which she shined. She was energetic, dynamic, able to completely captivate you and take you into another world.
She could act more with her eyes than many can with all the tools at their disposal.
In truth, I haven’t seen many of her movies, but for those that I have, such as English Vinglish, her performance is what I remember most, and she made an unforgettable impression on me. And if you read about her work and the reactions of her friends and family to her passing, it becomes very clear that she made a huge impression on thousands, and more likely, on millions.
I particularly appreciated a tribute from film critic, Rajeev Masand:
“Never known anyone who was so painfully shy, so quiet off screen, who just transformed into a force of nature when the cameras came on. She was an interviewer’s nightmare, but the movie-buff’s dream. You will be missed, Sridevi. Thank you for the movies.”
